Our Story
Thanks to Chris as she made this an easy transition for me and trusted me to the store she ran for years.
Introduction/Back Story
My name is Renee Gallagher, I purchased the Village Pet Shoppe from the previous owner Christina Walsh in October of 2021. Christina owned the store for 47 years and started it when she was only 19 years old. Village Pet Shoppe had quickly become a staple of the Hanover area over the years.
I worked for Christina for about 5 1/2 years. When the opportunity presented itself for buying the store I couldn't say no. It was a passion of mine, and I had a love for the store. Working for Christina over the years made it an easy transition for the both of us to start our next chapters in life.
Huge thanks to my parents for supporting my dreams and helping to purchase the store.
About Me
I have always had a love for animals. There is nothing more rewarding than taking care of animals and the happiness it brings them.

I graduated high school in 2015 and was working in a retail clothing store for about 3 years. I was attending college at the time for a social work degree. My passion for animal quickly took off after I started working for The Village Pet Shoppe when I was 19. I then redirected my studies at college to a business degree and I had decided my real passion was with animal, and I was drawn to the business side of things. I was determined that my career would be with animals.

I graduated with my business studies degree in 2018. Quickly after that I found a new passion for grooming. I started practicing on friends and family dogs and learned I was actually quite good at it and had lots of positive feedback. While working at the Village Pet Shoppe, I started my own grooming business on the side. I even gained some clients of puppies I got homes for at the pet shoppe. I groomed for about 3 years before the opportunity presented itself for purchasing the pet shoppe. Since buying the pet shoppe in 2021 I only groom friends and family dogs as running a pet store requires most of my time.

The Village Pet Shoppe has always been a second home to me. Regular customers become like family, and I love being able to provide people with healthy happy animals to add to their families. Helping people find their new best friend, as I have found mine there as well. Providing our customers with quality products to feed and nourish their pets is always my top priority.
